Description: Ice cream (Custard based recipe)
Ingredients: 24 egg yolks 3 pints milk 2 pints whipping cream 1 pint heavy/double whipping cream 3 cups sugar 12 tsp (1 small bottle) vanilla extract crushed Ice, Rock salt, and Ice cream maker - electric or crank-able
Directions: Scald milk (bring to a boil) in saucepan. Separately mix egg yolks and sugar until thick. Add mixture to hot milk. Warm until custard thickens. DO NOT BOIL or custard will curdle! When a slight film forms over spoon or stirrer, remove from heat and cool.
When cool, stir in cream, and vanilla and put in ice cream machine. Add ice and rock salt to bucket to freeze while cranking/mixing. Ice cream is set when you can't crank or mix any more. Leave to final set for 10 minutes. Serve frozen/chilled.

Description: A real surprise - looks like real dirt!! Dont forget to top off with a fake flower and serve with a toy shovel and rake! Best if chilled in a real glass flower pot!
Ingredients: several packages of knock-off imitation Oreos, or real Oreos if you want to spend the extra money for more cookies
several packages of chocolate pudding, chocolate fudge works the best! (I bought several "snack servings" packages of pre-made pudding and used those)
One container - usually a flowerpot, or a lasagna tray
Fridge to keep chilled
Whipped cream (optional) as a topping, and gummy worms (also optional)
Directions: Crush or break up the oreos in a blender on high speed, until you get really fine crumbs. The smaller, the better, because it will look like potting soil!
Pour one layer on the bottom of the tray or the chilled flower pot.
Make the pudding or just use the pre-made kind and pour another layer on top of the cookies, it will look like mud! Try to spread it evenly around.
Make several more layers of alternating ground cookies and pudding, cookie crumbs and pudding, followed by a final layer of crushed cookies. (You can stick the gummy worms in between layers also!)
Once the tray or pot is topped off and well-spread out and it looks presentable, chill in the freezer for a few hours before serving. Once ready to serve, place the fake flowers in the pot and present to your astonished guests! They'll flip when they see you serving up what appears to be potting soil and mud on their dessert plates!
But seriously, trust me, it tastes good!
