BEST. STAR WARS. ANIMATION. EVER.

Normally I stay away from adult-themed programming. But because of Cartoon Network's Double-whammy with Star Wars Robot Chicken and Star Wars Family Guy back to back, I just have to say it -- WOW! That was the best 30 minute summation of A New Hope I'd ever seen. The detail. The hijinks, the hillarity. I loved it! Some of it was a bit risque, but all in all an outstanding production.

Kudos to the animators and props to the writers and producers of both shows. You make all us Fanboys proud.

I used to play an old PC game called Descent that was unlike any other first-person shooter in it's field. No, this was a full 720 degree game - you could go up, down, left, right, forwards and backwards, pitch, yaw, and strafe all in a 3-D environment, with vertigo included.

Then came the sequels, Descent 2, Descent 3, bonus missions, Freespace 1 & 2. More of the same, but with bigger weaponry and now out in open space...

Fast forward a few years to today...

Now, Valve Software has come out with a game called "Portal", a pre-cursor to their Half-life series. In it you control a female test subject who, much like a lab rat, solves 19 puzzles certain scientists left behind, all the while using a new technology called portal technology. Portals are like warp gates that take you from one side of the room to another, and in certain situations can create interesting geometrics. For instance, flinging yourself across a room from a wall by jumping with momentum into a portal in a pit, or falling at terminal velocity with a portal in the ceiling and one in the floor creating a virtually endless loop. It gets me way more dizzy and nauseous than Descent ever did!

See the trailer for more details.

"Wii would like to play!"

Yet another reason to get a Wii, apart from Zelda Twilight Princess, the cool looking sports games, now comes "Boogie" - a Wii-enhanced DDR-type game that seems to have what I enjoyed so much about in DDR: good beat-stomping rhythm and tunes, and replayability.

Geez, does it mean I'll have to shell out another 3-400 bucks for a new game system? Probably.

Cars - as the review on the DVD box says, "an instant classic", and I agree.
I watched the whole DVD, including the special features, deleted scenes and hidden egg, except for the director's commentaries - and I still laughed as hard at the same jokes when I saw it in the theatre. John Lasseter, the director was a brilliant genius! It's true that on the road trip of life, the final destination still matters, but more importantly, it's the pathway you go and the choices you make along that road that get you there. If life seems too hectic in the fast lane, sometimes you just have to slow down and look around you to see what you've been missing. The characters are great, the scenery and rendering are outstanding, and the plot hits home in some manner of your past that you can relate to.

All in all a great family movie by the guys at Disney Pixar!

After seeing this movie several times, I'm gonna try my hand at creating a Cars-esque Photoshop pic of one of my favorite cars - the Dodge Viper RT-10...

Great little place nearby for Greek gyros -- always ask for an extra pita bread and some extra cucumber sauce!!

Great place for a mexican meal, better than running for the border at the Bell. A close substitute for "traditional" dishes. I especially like their Strawberry Lemonade laced with sugar on the lip of the glass!

I disagree with Multiply's review of Imo's Pizza. I've had better pizza. The best-ever pizza would have to be from a little restaurant that used to be in Troy, Missouri about 10 years ago called "Mister D's". I don't know if the restaurant still is in existence, but they had the softest and most delicious crust ever tasted. And they had pretty good root beer. I can remember a few family birthdays and other special occasions having dinner there. Before we moved from there, we HAD to get their recipe for their crust, and we did. I'll have to post it up here later.

If anybody knows if it's still around, let me know, post a reply.

Ave. Entree: $5-10

Local favorite, good food to price ratio, good service. Not something I would reccomend very loudly but if someone was in the area and didn't want Pizza Hut (the only other choice) then I might point them this direction.
